FAQs

How do I get tickets?

Early access tickets will go on sale at midday on Thursday 2nd April 2026, exclusively to people on the early access mailing list. Sign up for that here. General sale will open at midday on Friday 3rd April 2026.

Is it wheelchair accessible?

Yes! The whole venue is wheelchair accessible. More information is available in our accessibility pack, and on the Accessibility page.

Is there parking?

There will be no on-site parking available but there are car parks at Monkgate and Union terrace, along with other nearby options in the city.
There are several long-stay carparks operated by York City Council, Qpark, and NCP. Alongside this, you can check out www.yourparkingspace.co.uk which has a number of options for private parking in York as well as www.parkopedia.co.uk where you can quickly compare parking costs. Be aware that the Park and Ride services don't allow for overnight parking.

How should I get there?

The venue is within easy walking distance of the city centre, and there are great Park and Ride options. More information about public transport can be found here

Can kids come?

Yes! While Demons Wake is an event aimed at adults, kids are indeed welcome. Children aged 7 or under can enter with a free ticket, and all attendees under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

What's the food and drink situation?

We have a great range of catering on offer from the venue, however we understand that not all dietary requirements can be catered for. As such, external food and non-alcoholic drinks are permitted within the venue.
Please note that no alcohol bought off-site is permitted within the venue. As part of our code of conduct, anyone who does not abide by this will be removed from the event.

What if I buy a ticket and then can't come?

Tickets can be refunded up to 7 days before the event. After that, tickets are non-refundable. Tickets are not transferable - the named buyer of the ticket must be present at the event.

What if I need quiet time?

There is a chillout room available for anyone to take some time out. Additionally, there is lots of outdoor space available on the campus if you want to be outside and stretch your legs.

Are there hotels or hostels nearby?

Discounted accommodation will be available to ticket holders. This will be in the university halls of residence and will be within easy walking distance of both the venue and the city centre. When you've bought a ticket, information on how to book this will be in your confirmation email. Prices start from £60 per person per night and there is limited availability.
There are also many hotels within walking distance, with a range of both price and quality.

How does the games library work? Can I borrow a grimoire?

Yes! Demons Wake has a fully stocked library of Grimoires, Carousel tokens and tabletop games for you to use throughout Demons Wake.
The library will be visible on GODWIN from 10 August 2026 at midday.
In order to use the games library, we ask for a £10 (cash) returnable deposit. You will find the library in our Convention Hub (where you’ll collect your lanyard and pass for the weekend).

Can I get some tasty merch?

Hell yeah! Demons Wake is proud to be officially partnered with The Pandemonium Institute, and we will be stocking a range of official TPI merchandise for you to peruse and purchase across the weekend.
You will also be able to buy a range of Demons Wake merchandise, as well as some delightful titles from Hachette Boardgames UK from the lovely team at The Convention Hub.
All merchandise and games are while stocks last!
Please note that all merchandise sales are card-only.

Will there be pick-up games?

There will! Last year, our attendees told us that they wanted more opportunities for spontaneous / impromptu / pick-up games. These are walk-up games that are not bookable in advance. This year we have devoted the entire Holgate building to pick-up games.

What if I need help during the event?

If you find yourself in need of some help during Demons Wake, you can use one of the following avenues:
  1. Chat to one of our amazing volunteers (red t-shirts)
  2. Visit the team at the Demons Wake Convention Hub
  3. Contact the venue security team on the phone (01904 876 444) or in person.
  4. Scan the QR code on the back of the programme (or click the link on GODWIN) to submit an anonymous reporting form. Please note that this form is actively monitored during event opening hours.

How many games can I play with the special guests?

Each attendee at Demons Wake can pre-book in to two special guest-tagged games throughout the event via our convention web app, GODWIN (see your recent emails from us for the link to GODWIN or visit our Discord).
Our special guests will also be moving through the convention joining other games on the fly, so you never know quite where they'll show up!

Tell me about the script competition!

The annual Demons Wake script competition returns in 2026 and is open for entries up until Monday 17 August (5pm GMT). This year, we have a range of raffle prizes to be won including a copy of Blood on the Clocktower and a copy of The Carousel (both kindly donated by our friends at The Pandemonium Institute), some lovely items donated by our wonderful independent traders, a ticket to Demons Wake 2027, and a Demons Wake merchandise bundle!
Raffle tickets are available from the convention hub and are priced at £1 per ticket, or £4 per strip of five. Please note that all raffle ticket sales are card only.

The annual Demons Wake costume competition returns on Saturday 29 August, where you can strut your stuff and show off all your wonderful costumes and cosplay for the adoring eyes of our judges by Diane Carson and Sullivan Beau Brown!
